Types of Gujarat NEET Counselling 2026
Since ACPUGMEC conducts counselling for 100% of the state's MBBS/BDS seats, Gujarat NEET Counselling 2026 is organised around quotas rather than separate authorities:
1. Government Quota (GQ)
100% of seats in Government Medical and Dental Colleges, along with 50% of seats in Grant-in-Aid and Self-Financed (private) Medical/Dental colleges, form the Government Quota. These are filled purely on NEET-UG merit.
2. Management Quota (MQ)
The remaining 50% of seats in Self-Financed Medical/Dental colleges form the Management Quota. Candidates who apply for Government seats of Government and Unaided (Self-Financed) Medical/Dental colleges are automatically also eligible for Management seats of those same Self-Financed colleges, there's no separate application needed.
3. NRI Quota (NQ)
A portion of seats in Self-Financed colleges are reserved for NRI candidates either the student themselves or their parent must qualify as a Non-Resident Indian. OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders are also eligible for NRI Quota, Management Quota, and Government Quota, though for Government Quota and Management Quota specifically, candidates must still have completed Class 10 and Class 12 in Gujarat and be either born in or domiciled in the state.
4. Local Quota
A special category applicable only to two institutes, Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad, and Surat Municipal Institute of Medical Education & Research (SMIMER), Surat. Candidates must obtain a local candidate certificate from the respective Dean, issued only after NEET-UG results are published.
