Madhya Pradesh NEET Counselling 2026 will begin shortly after the declaration of NEET UG 2026 re-exam result on 16th July 2026. The candidates who have appeared for NEET UG 2026 examination and have scored the qualifying marks for securing the MBBS/BDS admission under Madhya Pradesh State Quota, need to appear for the counselling procedure conducted by Directorate of Medical Education (DME) to get admitted in the medical/dental colleges of the state.

The counselling for 85% State Quota seats is conducted online by DME whereas the remaining 15% All India Quota seats are filled by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The complete process of registration, choice filling, merit list, counselling rounds, seat allocation, admission, and reporting for Madhya Pradesh NEET 2026 counselling will be done online through dme.mponline.gov.in, the official portal of Directorate of Medical Education Madhya Pradesh and MP Online Limited.

The candidates who want to get admitted to Government and Private Medical/Dental Colleges need to register for counselling before the last date notified by the DME authorities.

For the academic year 2026-27, a total of 5,725 seats are available for MBBS in 35 medical colleges across the state. Of which, 3,025 seats are available in 21 Government Medical Colleges and 2,700 seats are available in 14 Private Medical Colleges. Whereas, for BDs, a total of 1,283 seats are available in 14 Dental Colleges across the state, out of which 63 seats are available in 1 Government Dental College and 1,220 seats are available in 13 Private Dental Colleges.

Which Seats Are Covered Under MP NEET Counselling 2026?

MP NEET counselling covers the following seat types:

State Quota Seats (85% of Government College intake):

• MBBS seats in all Government Medical Colleges in MP
• BDS seats in all Government Dental Colleges in MP
• These seats follow the full reservation structure under Schedule 2 of MP Medical Education Rules

Private College Seats (100%):

• All MBBS and BDS seats in private medical and dental colleges in MP, both general quota and NRI quota are routed through DME MP counselling
• Private college Management Quota is essentially the general open category in private colleges
• NRI Quota (15% of private college intake) has its own separate rules

Seats NOT included:

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in Government Colleges, these are managed by MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) at mcc.nic.in separately
• AIQ seats are completely outside DME MP's jurisdiction

State Quota vs All India Quota – What MP Students Need to Know

This is a question many students get confused about every year.

• All India Quota (AIQ) = 15% of Government College seats → Handled by MCC New Delhi at mcc.nic.in
• State Quota = 85% of Government College seats + 100% of Private College seats → Handled by DME MP at dme.mponline.gov.in

You can register and participate in both MCC counselling (for AIQ) and MP DME counselling (for State Quota) simultaneously. There is no rule against this. However, you cannot hold two seats at the same time, if you receive an allotment in MCC AIQ and also in MP State Quota, you need to decide which one to keep and formally withdraw from the other.

For MP domicile students with good ranks, it is advisable to register for both. Many students who don't get a top government college through AIQ manage to secure one through State Quota counselling.

MP NEET Counselling 2026 Eligibility Criteria

For MBBS & BDS:

1. Candidate should qualify NEET UG 2026 with a minimum percentile required 
2. General category candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology). For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum required marks are 40%. For PwD candidates, it is 45%.
3. Candidate should clear class 10+2 or equivalent with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Biotechnology and English with a minimum score as per NMC
4. The candidate should be at least 17 years old on or before December 31, 2026. The upper age limit is 25 years for general category candidates and 30 years for reserved category candidates.
5. Candidate should be domicile of Madhya Pradesh for State Quota. The criterion is relaxed automatically from Round 2 onwards when eligible MP domicile candidates are not available

For NRI Quota:

• NRI (Non-Resident Indian) candidate as defined under Section 115C(e) of Income Tax Act 1961, or an OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) as defined under Section 2(1A) of the Citizenship Act 1955
• Must have qualified NEET UG 2026 with the UR category minimum percentile (50th percentile)
• All NRI Quota seats in private colleges are unreserved (no caste reservation within NRI Quota)
• NRI candidates can register under a single registration, they do NOT need a separate registration for NRI quota seats

Reservation Policy for MP NEET Counselling 2026

MP has a detailed two-tier reservation structure.

Category cascading in Mop-Up Round:

When reserved category seats remain vacant in the Mop-Up Round and eligible reserved candidates are not available, the system cascades in this specific order:

1. ST vacancies - SC candidates
2. SC vacancies - ST candidates
3. ST + SC vacancies - OBC candidates
4. All three unavailable - EWS candidates
5. All four unavailable - UR (Unreserved) candidates

Important – Sainik Category Clarification (from official FAQ): Children of personnel from paramilitary forces (BSF, CRPF, etc.) are NOT eligible for the Sainik 3% horizontal reservation. Only children of serving/retired/deceased personnel from the three wings of the Indian Armed Forces including Army, Navy, and Air Force qualify.

NRI, OCI, and Minority Candidates

NRI Quota – Key Rules:

• 15% seats in private medical and dental colleges only are reserved for NRI candidates
• All NRI quota seats are unreserved (no SC/ST/OBC reservation within NRI quota)
• If eligible NRI candidates are not available in the Mop-Up Round, NRI quota seats convert to general unreserved seats and are allotted to eligible UR candidates on merit with choice
• Before Round 2 and Mop-Up Round, non-NRI candidates (other than those admitted in Round 1 via NRI quota) who want to participate in subsequent rounds must deposit an advance of ₹10 lakh as security
• NRI Quota advance deposit: ₹10,00,000 before filling Round 2 / Mop-Up choices
• This deposit is adjusted against admission fees if allotted; if not allotted, refunded after counselling is complete

Minority Quota:

Madhya Pradesh does not have a state-level minority quota in the DME MP NEET UG counselling process. Individual private minority medical colleges may have their own minority reservation as per applicable law, candidates should check with those specific colleges directly.

MP NEET Counselling 2026 Registration Process

Registration for MP NEET Counselling 2026 is entirely online at dme.mponline.gov.in. You do not need to visit any office. Physical presence is required only after allotment, when you report to the allotted college.

Step 1 – Create Profile

• Visit dme.mponline.gov.in then click Under Graduate Counselling (MBBS/BDS)
• Click "Create Profile" (new candidates only)
• Enter NEET UG 2026 Roll Number, Date of Birth (DD/MM/YYYY), Secret Key - 16 digits = NEET Application Number + 0 + NEET Score 
• Example: Application No. 2322123456890, Score 420 - Secret Key = 23221234568900420
• Enter Captcha and click "Create Profile"
• Your NEET data (name, parents' names, rank, score, percentile) auto-populates from NTA records

Step 2 – Enter Contact and Bank Details

• Mobile Number: Use the number you will actively use throughout counselling, all OTPs and SMS alerts come here
• Alternate Mobile Number and Email ID
• Photo ID Proof type and number, any photo ID except Aadhar (PAN Card, Passport, Driving Licence, etc.)
• Correspondence Address
• Bank Account Details: Account Number (enter twice), IFSC Code (enter twice), Account Holder Name, Bank Name, Branch

Bank Account Rules:

• Must be savings or current account active, KYC compliant
• No limit on maximum balance/credit
• Cannot be a minor's account
• Must belong to candidate or parent/guardian
• Do not enter your Kiosk/Cybercafe operator's bank account details

Click "Proceed"

Step 3 – OTP Verification and Password Setup

• OTP is sent to registered mobile number
• Enter OTP along with security code
• Create password: minimum 8 characters, maximum 15; must include at least 1 numeric, 1 lowercase, 1 uppercase, and 1 special character
• Click "Validate and Save"

Profile turns Green in the Candidate Status Tracker.

Step 4 – Fill Registration Form

Click "Registration Form" in the Candidate Corner dashboard. Fill below information:

NRI Detail: Yes or No for NRI Quota

Domicile Details:

• Are you MP domicile? 
• Domicile Certificate Reference Number
• Date of Issue, Place of Issue, Designation of Issuing Officer (Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Tehsildar)

Category Details:

• Select: UR / EWS / OBC / SC / ST
• EWS applicable only in government colleges, enter certificate reference, date, place, and designation of issuing officer
• OBC: Confirm you are in the non-creamy layer

Special Class Details (only one can be chosen):

1. PWD: Yes/No, must meet NMC/DCI criteria
2. Freedom Fighter Ward: Yes/No
3. Sainik Ward: Yes/No (Army/Navy/Air Force only, paramilitary NOT eligible)

Registration tracker turns Green. You can still edit registration details via "Edit Registration Form" within the registration deadline.

OBC Certificate – Important Clarification:

OBC caste certificate must be in permanent format (not income-based annual certificate). Creamy layer OBC candidates are NOT eligible for OBC reservation. If your certificate was issued in another state, you are treated as Unreserved in MP State Quota.

EWS Certificate – Critical Point:

EWS certificates are year-specific. For MP NEET Counselling 2026, the certificate must be issued for academic year 2026-27, older certificates will not be accepted.

Document Verification Process at the Allotted College

Unlike some states where document verification happens centrally before choice filling, MP's document verification happens at the allotted college after receiving the allotment letter. Here is how it works:

1. Download your Allotment Letter from Candidate Corner
2. Report physically to the allotted college within the reporting window (5–7 days as per counselling calendar)
3. The college's Admission Committee, a three-member body chaired by the Dean/Principal with 2 medical faculty members conducts document verification
4. If documents are in order then Pay admission fee online via portal and Receive Admission Letter (Pravesh Patra)
5. If documents are insufficient  then Committee gives written notice. Candidate can appeal to the Counselling Committee within next working day by midnight 12:00 via portal
6. Counselling Committee's decision is final

MP NEET Counselling 2026 State Merit List

Madhya Pradesh NEET Counselling 2026 Merit List is released by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Madhya Pradesh after the completion of registration and document verification. The state merit list is prepared based on the NEET UG 2026 All India Rank (AIR), eligibility criteria, domicile status, and reservation policy. Only candidates whose names appear in the merit list are eligible to participate in choice filling and seat allotment. Separate merit lists and revised lists may be published for each counselling round.

MP NEET Counselling 2026 Choice Filling and Choice Locking 

Choice filling is where you select and prioritise the colleges you want. This is the most strategic step of the entire counselling process.

How to Access Choice Filling:

1. Login to Candidate Corner on dme.mponline.gov.in using NEET Roll Number & Password
2. Click "Choice Filling" from the left sidebar
3. Select college preference type: Government Colleges only OR Government and Private Colleges both
4. Click "Proceed for Next"

Filling Choices:

• Read the "Instruction for College Preference Selection" popup carefully before proceeding
• Available colleges appear in a list on the left side then filter by city, course, or college type
• Click "All" to view all colleges across MP at once
• Select colleges by checking the checkbox next to each college name
• Selected colleges appear in the "Selected Preference Box" on the right, in the order you selected them

Rearranging Choices:

After selecting, you can rearrange the order in the preference box:

• Select a college in the preference box, Use "Move Up" or "Move Down" arrows to change position
• Use "Choice Interchange" to swap any two choices directly
• Use "Multiple Deletions" to remove several choices at once (password required)

Locking Choices:

After finalising, click "Review Selected Preferences" to see your final order. If satisfied:

• Click "Proceed to Next Step" and your list is saved
• On the final screen, tick the "Choice Locking Declaration" checkbox
• Click "Proceed to Lock Choices"
• Pay the ₹100 Choice Locking Fee via Net Banking / Debit/Credit Card / UPI
• Download and print the Choice Filling Receipt, it has a QR code and full choice list
• You also receive an SMS on your registered mobile number

Important Warning: Choices that are NOT locked are not considered for allotment under any circumstances. Even if you have saved choices, they must be explicitly locked. Always confirm you have received the receipt and SMS after locking.

Editing Locked Choices: You can edit locked choices through the "Edit Choice Filling" option in your Candidate Corner but only before the deadline. If you edit, you MUST re-lock by paying the ₹100 fee again. If you fail to re-lock after editing, your previously locked choices are used for allotment.

MP NEET Counselling 2026 Rounds

Round 1 – First Round

Madhya Pradesh NEET Counselling 2026 process starts with online registration, followed by counselling fee payment and generation of the Candidate Profile. Candidates must then complete the registration form and upload the required documents. After the State Merit List is published, eligible candidates can participate in choice filling and locking by paying a ₹100 choice filling fee. 

Seats are allotted through a computer-based allotment process based on NEET merit and preferences. Allotted candidates must download their allotment letter, report to the allotted college for document verification, pay the admission fee online, and finally receive their admission letter.

Key rules:

• Only registered candidates who have locked choices participate in Round 1 allotment
• At the time of admission, you choose whether to opt for Upgradation (Yes/No) in Round 2
• If you choose "Yes" for upgradation: you are admitted but eligible to try for a better seat in Round 2
• If you choose "No": you take final admission and are out of Round 2 and beyond
• The upgradation option can be edited via Candidate Login after admission but only within the time specified in the counselling calendar

Seat withdrawal in Round 1: You can withdraw from Round 1 admission before Round 2 begins (up to 2 days before Round 2 starts). This is done online, but you must physically go to the college to initiate it. No Seat Leaving Bond applies if withdrawn within this window. After this window, bond conditions apply.

Fee refund on Round 1 withdrawal (Official FAQ answer): If you withdraw from Round 1 within the allowed time (2 days before Round 2 starts), 10% of the admission fee deposited (maximum ₹10,000) is deducted. Remaining fee is refunded after counselling ends. For NRI candidates withdrawing in this window, a deduction of ₹25,000 is made.

Round 2 – Second Round

Who can participate in Round 2:

• Candidates not allotted in Round 1
• Candidates allotted in Round 1 who chose Upgradation
• Candidates allotted in Round 1 who withdrew from their seat within the permitted window
• Candidates allotted in Round 1 who did not report (they can participate but without fresh fee payment)
• Fresh registration candidates (who did not register in Round 1)

Advance security deposit required for Round 2 (see fee table above).

Candidates from outside MP in Round 2: Candidates from outside MP can participate from Round 2 onwards if eligible MP domicile candidates are not available in merit. Allotment happens on merit cum choice basis.

Mop-Up Round – Final Round

Who can participate in Mop-Up Round:

Advance Security Deposit for Mop-Up Round:

• General candidates (UR / Reserved): ₹2,00,000
• NRI candidates: ₹10,00,000

These amounts must be paid before choice filling in the Mop-Up Round.

Mop-Up Round advance deposit handling:

• If allotted then adjusted against college admission fee
• If not allotted then refunded to bank account within the specified timeline
• If allotted but candidate does not report → forfeited 

Important restriction: Candidates who had allotment in Round 1 OR Round 2 (regardless of whether they reported or not) are NOT eligible for Mop-Up Round unless they were admitted and gave the upgradation option at the time of admission.

Stray Vacancy Round

After the Mop-Up Round, if any seats remain vacant, a Stray Vacancy Round is conducted.

Key rules:

• Remaining vacant seats are published college-wise on the portal
• A list of 10x eligible candidates (per available seat) is published in merit order
• Candidates who applied online within the specified time get ranked college-wise in a computer-generated merit order
• College physically admits candidates in merit order during the specified time window
• Any admission given in violation of merit order is automatically cancelled

Only candidates with zero allotment across all three previous rounds are eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round.

Government Service Bond Policy in MP

Rural/Government Service Bond:

MBBS graduates from government medical colleges in MP must serve in rural, remote, or difficult areas for a mandatory period under a bond executed at the time of admission.

• All admitted government college MBBS students must execute a rural service bond
• After completing MBBS, mandatory rural service for 5 years in areas as designated by the government
• If the bond is not fulfilled: ₹50,00,000 (fifty lakh rupees) to be paid as bond penalty
• This condition applies to all students admitted in government colleges, regardless of category

How to Participate in Both MCC and MP NEET Counselling Simultaneously

You can and should register for both. Here is how it works practically:

1. Register for MCC counselling at mcc.nic.in for AIQ (15% of government college seats)
2. Register separately for MP DME counselling at dme.mponline.gov.in for State Quota seats
3. Both processes run in parallel with different timelines, check both schedules
4. If allotted in MCC AIQ, decide whether to continue in MP State Quota or withdraw from MP
5. You cannot hold two seats simultaneously, holding one seat while getting allotted in another triggers automatic cancellation of the earlier one

Seat Allotment and College Reporting Process

Allotment Process:

• After choice locking, the NIC/portal software runs the allotment algorithm
• Allotment is based on inter-se merit (MP State Rank), strictly computerised, no manual intervention
• The algorithm checks each candidate's locked choices from first preference downward and allots the best available seat
• Allotment result is published on the portal, login to Candidate Corner to check

After Allotment:

1. Download your Allotment Letter from Candidate Corner and "Download Allotment Letter"
2. Report to the allotted college within 5–7 days 
3. Carry: Allotment Letter & all original documents with 2 sets of self-attested photocopies
4. Meet the Admission Committee (Dean-chaired, 3-member panel)
5. Documents verified against NEET registration records and Schedule 3 of MP Medical Education Rules
6. If cleared: pay admission fee online via portal (the committee will inform you the amount)
7. After fee payment: submit original documents at college and collect receipt

Q. Can children of BSF or CRPF personnel claim the Sainik category 3% reservation?

A. If you have taken admission in Round 1 and withdraw from that seat before the deadline (2 days before Round 2 begins), you remain eligible for all subsequent rounds including Round 2, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round.

Q. Does registration need to be done multiple times for each round?

A. Registration done before Round 1 is valid for Round 2 and beyond. However, registration re-opens before the Mop-Up Round for fresh candidates who missed Rounds 1 and 2. Already registered candidates do NOT need to re-register.
