Jharkhand NEET Counselling 2026 covers the following categories of seats.
- State Quota: Covers seats in Government and Private Medical/Dental Colleges/Institutes of Jharkhand, filled through the State Merit List prepared by JCECEB based on NEET UG 2026 All India Rank, open to candidates fulfilling the residential and educational eligibility criteria.
- Reserved Category Quota: Includes seats reserved for Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes (BC-I/BC-II), Economically Weaker Sections, Persons with Disabilities, and Primitive Tribal Groups within the State Quota.
- All India Quota (Not part of JCECEB counselling): 15% of seats in government colleges are filled separately through NEET UG merit by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC).
- Deemed University Seats (Not part of JCECEB counselling): MBBS seats at Manipal Tata Medical College, Jamshedpur, a deemed university, are largely filled through MCC's central deemed-university counselling, though a portion is allocated to the State Government.

Candidates from a reserved category can compete for admission in General/Unreserved category seats as per their merit; such candidates are not counted towards the admission in the reserved category if selected on this basis.

- Online application form submission on jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in, followed by payment of the non-refundable Registration/Application Fee.
- Editing of the application form by registered candidates within the notified window, if corrections are needed.
- Preparation and publication of the State Merit List based on NEET UG 2026 All India Rank and the claims made in the online application.
- Online registration and choice filling for seat allotment, where candidates fill their preferences of Institute/Institutes and Course/Courses in order of priority.
- Seat allotment and downloading of the Provisional Seat Allotment Letter.
- Payment of the Counselling Fee, verification of original documents, and admission at the concerned allotted Institute.
- Repeating the process for Round 2 and Round 3, where new candidates can apply afresh and already registered candidates need not reapply.
- Participation in the Stray Vacancy Round if seats still remain vacant after Round 3.

Registration for Jharkhand NEET UG Counselling 2026 is done entirely online on jceceb.jharkhand.gov.in, under the "Online Application Submission" tab. A few points worth keeping in mind:
- Candidates need to fill the application form only once for the State Merit List; those already registered do not need to reapply for subsequent rounds of counselling.
- Reserved category candidates should claim reservation benefits only when they already possess the concerned certificate in the proper prescribed format, issued by the competent authority; certificates from any other authority or in any other format will not be entertained.
- It is mandatory to upload the NEET UG 2026 scorecard as part of the registration process.
- Registration/Application Fee is paid through the Payment Gateway using Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
- Candidates recommended for admission must submit all original certificates/documents as per their seat allotment; failing this, the Provisional Seat Allotment Letter will be deemed cancelled.

Jharkhand NEET Counselling Choice Filling
Choice filling for Jharkhand NEET Counselling 2026 happens after the State Merit List is published, and a few rules apply throughout the process.
- Candidates have to fill their preferences of Institute/Institutes and Course/Courses strictly as per their priority; there is no restriction on the number of preferences that can be filled.
- Candidates are advised to fill as many preferences as possible for the Institutes and Courses they are interested in, to improve their chance of seat allotment as per merit-cum-choice.
- Candidates can modify or change their opted preference(s) on the specified date by re-logging into the portal, if needed.
- For reserved category candidates (EWS, SC, ST, BC-I, BC-II) applying to private colleges such as Manipal Tata Medical College, Jamshedpur, choices must be filled clearly as "Yes" for reserved category seats, "No" for unreserved category seats, and "None" to prioritise the reserved category as the 1st choice with unreserved as the 2nd choice if the reserved seat is unavailable; however, the fee fixed for the unreserved category will apply in such cases.

Jharkhand NEET Counselling Seat Allotment Process
Seat allotment for Jharkhand NEET Counselling 2026 is made strictly on the basis of the State Merit List prepared by JCECEB.
- Seats are allotted purely on the basis of the candidate's rank in the State Merit List and the preferences of Institute/Course filled and locked by the candidate.
- Candidates recommended for admission must submit all original certificates and documents as per their seat allotment; failing this results in the Provisional Seat Allotment Letter being deemed cancelled.
- Security Money, as applicable to the type of institution, is collected at the time of counselling and is forfeited if admission is not taken after seat allotment in the Second Round and subsequent rounds, or if wrong information is given at the time of registration.
- The Security Money is refunded within three months after the end of the last round of online counselling, if the candidate has taken valid admission and no seat is allotted after any stage of counselling.
- Counselling is conducted as per the guidelines issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and any change in these guidelines is reflected in the counselling dates and terms notified by JCECEB.
