Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2026 is the state-level admission process for MBBS and BDS courses in Tamil Nadu’s government and self-financing medical/dental colleges. It is conducted by the Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education & Research (DME), Tamil Nadu, the state’s designated conducting authority, through its official website tnmedicalselection.org.
Admission to 85% of seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges (State Quota) is handled by this Selection Committee through single-window online counselling, while the remaining 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats are counselled separately by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Both processes admit only candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Since the original NEET UG 2026 exam held on 3 May 2026 was cancelled and a Re-NEET exam was conducted on 21 June 2026, this year’s admission schedule has run later than usual, the Tamil Nadu 2026-2027 session prospectus was released on 29 June 2026, with online applications opening the same day for MBBS & BDS.
Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2026 Round 1 schedule has been revised again following the latest MCC schedule. Candidates can now complete registration, choice filling and choice locking until August 24, 2026, at 5:00 PM. Seat allotment processing will take place on August 25 and 26, with the result scheduled for August 27. Candidates can download their allotment orders until September 5 at 12:00 Noon, while the last date for reporting is September 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Process Step by Step

- Prospectus & Notification Release: The Selection Committee publishes separate Government Quota and Management Quota prospectuses on tnmedicalselection.org.
- Online Application: Eligible candidates register and submit a single online application (one for Government Quota, a separate one if also applying for Management Quota).
- Document Upload & Scrutiny: Candidates upload NEET admit card, mark sheets, nativity/community certificates, and other relevant documents; the Selection Committee scrutinises applications.
- Eligible Merit List Publication: A list of eligible candidates (based on NEET UG rank and verified documents) is published on the official website.
- Counselling Registration: Candidates in the Eligible Merit List register afresh for each round of counselling by paying the registration fee (and Security Deposit, where applicable).
- Online Choice Filling: Candidates fill and lock their preferred college-course combinations in order of priority.
- Seat Allotment (Round 1): Seats are allotted based on NEET UG rank, the 69% reservation rule, and choices filled.
- Fee Payment & Joining: Selected candidates download the provisional allotment order, pay the tuition fee, and report to the allotted college with original documents.
- Round 2 & Round 3: Candidates seeking upgrades, fresh registrants, and non-joined candidates participate in subsequent rounds.
- Stray Round: A final round to fill any seats still vacant after Round 3.

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Registration Process
Here's how to apply for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2026 on the official portal:
- Visit tnmedicalselection.org and go to the online application section for MBBS/BDS 2026-2027.

- Fill in your personal details such as name, parent/guardian details, address, date of birth, gender, nationality, nativity, religion, community/caste, Aadhaar number, and special category (if any).
- Enter your NEET UG 2026 roll number, register number, score, and qualifying exam details (board, group code, year of passing, number of attempts).
- Fill in your marks details, mother tongue, medium of instruction, parent's occupation and annual income, and native district.
- Upload the required documents in PDF format, NEET UG 2026 admit card, Class X and XI mark sheets, HSC mark sheet, transfer certificate, community/nativity certificates, and special category certificates, as applicable.
- Pay the application fee online, Rs.500 for Government Quota (SC/SCA/ST candidates exempted), Rs.1,000 for Management Quota.
- Review all entries carefully, no changes are allowed after submission then submit and download the filled application for your records.
Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Choice Filling
Once the Eligible Merit List is out and you've registered for a counselling round, here's how choice filling works:
- Log in to tnmedicalselection.org using the same credentials (User ID, Password, mobile number) used during application.
- Pay the registration fee (Rs.500, non-refundable) and applicable Security Deposit for the round you're attending.
- Study the list of available seats, college-wise and course-wise and prepare a tentative preference list before filling choices online, since choices reflect your actual preference order for allotment.
- Fill in your choices in the order you prefer, across as many colleges/courses as you're willing to consider.
- Once you lock your choices for a round, they cannot be changed, so double-check before locking.
- Seat allotment applies your NEET UG rank and the 69% reservation rule against your locked choices.
- If not satisfied with a Round 1 seat, you can re-register and fill fresh choices in Round 2 for a possible upgrade but note that Round 1 seats not retained become "virtual vacancies" available to other candidates in Round 2.
