Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2025, will be organised by the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai, for MD, MS, and Diploma courses at medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra. It will be for admission into State Government, Corporation, State and Central Government aided, Unaided Private, and Minority Medical Institutions providing Postgraduate medical seats in a state quota (50%) for the academic year 2025-26.

Maharashtra has roughly 63 Postgraduate medical institutions with around 5,796 PG seats in different specialties.
All candidates, who are eligible in the NEET PG 2025 for Post Graduate Medical education, seeking Post Graduate Medical education in Maharashtra must register online on the official website (www.mahacet.org) from October 31, 2025, to November 7, 2025, till 11:59 PM.
The counselling procedure will be held in 4 or more rounds depending on the available seats in the Centralized Admissions Process (CAP). After the completion of each round of counselling, candidates are allocated seats based on their NEET PG rank, merit, and based on choice filled by the candidates. In each round, including Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Online Stray Vacancy Round, candidates must submit new preferences.

Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2025 – Online Preference Filling Process
Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2025 admission process will be held online only through the Preference Form available on www.mahacet.org. There will be no offline preference form.
Eligible candidates can fill their preferences separately for Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and the Online Stray Vacancy Round.
- Candidates can choose from Government, Corporation, Government-Aided, and Private/Minority Colleges, depending on the deposit paid during registration.
- Seat allotment will be based on the State Merit Rank and the preferences submitted.
- Candidates can edit their preferences multiple times before submission. Once submitted, changes are not allowed.
- Preferences filled for a round apply only to that round, except for stray vacancy preferences, which may carry forward.
- Those responsible for seat lapse in the last two years cannot apply.
- There will be four or more online CAP rounds, depending on seat availability.
Preference Code Structure
Each subject–college combination has a four-digit code followed by a suffix showing the quota type:
- S – State Quota
- I – Institutional Quota
- N – NRI Quota
NRI Quota Guidelines
- NRI candidates or wards must claim NRI status and choose preferences with the ‘N’ suffix.
- Non-NRI candidates can also select NRI seats. If left vacant, these may be allotted based on merit, but the NRI fee will apply.
Filling the Preference Form
- Enter the most preferred college and subject code first, followed by others.
- Enter the four-digit code with suffix (S/I/N) correctly.
- Candidates can fill at least one preference.
- If no preferences are submitted for a round, the candidate will be excluded from that round.
- Preferences will not carry forward to later rounds, except for the Online Stray Vacancy Round.
Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2025 – Selection Process
Those who successfully have qualified for NEET PG 2025 will be eligible to take part in the Maharashtra State Counselling organized by the State CET Cell for admission to MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses under the State Quota.
- Registration: Candidates will have to register online on the portal before Round 1 or Round 3. The registration is valid for all rounds.
- Rounds of Counselling: There will be four or more Online CAP Rounds or a Stray Vacancy Round, depending on seat availability.
- Seat Allotment: Seats would be allotted depending on the NEET PG rank, merit and the preferences filled in by the candidates. Fresh preferences will have to be filled for each round.
- Joining & Reporting- After seat allotment identities, candidates must report to the allotted college within the scheduled time with original documents and fees. Seats not reported by the candidate will be cancelled.
- Status Retention- If satisfied with their allotted seat, candidates must fill a Status Retention Form that informs they do not wish to take part in the next round(s). Once submitted, the decision is not reversible.
- Upgradation- Candidates who choose not to fill in a Status Retention form will be eligible for upgradation in the next round, based on rank and preferences.
- Upgradation: Candidates who do not submit the Status Retention Form are eligible for upgradation in the next round based on their rank and preferences.
- Vacant Seats: Seats left vacant after each round are carried forward to the next. No institutional stray vacancy round will be conducted; all admissions will be done through online CAP rounds only as per NMC guidelines.
Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling 2025 – Cancellation and Refund Policy
Candidates who have confirmed their admission can cancel their seat within the period specified by the Competent Authority. To do so, they must submit a written application to the Dean or Head of the Institution using the format provided in Annexure-K.
Refund Rules:
- Prior to the due date: A processing fee of Rs.1,500 will be deducted and the balance refunded to the candidate by the college.
- After the due date: No refunds will be issued for cancellation requests made after the deadline.
Special Provision:
- If a candidate dies or is medically declared unfit to continue conducting the PG course (as per NMC norms) within three months of admission, the candidate will be granted a full refund of the fee, upon the acceptance of a duly notified Medical Board.
