Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, has issued an important notice directing state counselling authorities to remove candidates who have already joined through the All India Quota (AIQ) from their state counselling data before processing Round 3 seats.
MCC Directs States to Filter Joined AIQ Candidates
According to the notice, filtering out candidates who have joined through the All India Quota is mandatory before the stray vacancy round of state UG counselling.
MCC stated that reporting for Round 3 of UG Counselling 2026 was completed on October 9, 2026. Therefore, all state counselling authorities have been requested to remove candidates who joined through AIQ up to Round 3 before beginning seat processing for Round 3 of state counselling.
Why Is This Step Important?
The measure is intended to prevent candidates who already hold a seat under AIQ from being allotted another seat through state counselling.
The notice specifically states that candidates holding a seat under AIQ should not be allotted any seat through state counselling. State counselling authorities have been instructed to carry out the required filtering before processing their Round 3 allotments.
MCC to Provide the Allotted Candidate List
To help state authorities complete this process, MCC has stated that they can download the list of allotted candidates through the MCC data-sharing portal.
State counselling authorities are expected to use this information to identify and remove candidates who have joined under AIQ up to Round 3 before proceeding with state Round 3 seat processing.
Important Update for NEET UG 2026 Candidates
Candidates participating in both AIQ and state counselling should take note of this notice. State Round 3 seat processing must follow the filtering procedure specified by MCC.
The notice does not announce a revised state counselling schedule or a new choice-filling deadline. Candidates should continue to follow the official notifications issued by their respective state counselling authorities.
