Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 Choice Filling

Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu, had released a revised schedule for the third round of Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2025, based on the instructions in the updated guidelines issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS dated October 9th, 2025. This is an opportunity for eligible candidates to secure seats (i.e. MBBS and BDS) in government and private medical colleges in Tamil Nadu.

Registering for Round 3 and resigning from seats was done up until October 12th, 2025 (5:00 PM) with choice filling and locking from October 13th, 2025 (5:00 PM) until October 16th, 2025 (5:00 PM). The processing of seats will be done on October 17th, 2025, and the results of the Round 3 allotment are to be published on 18th October 2025.

This is the most important round of Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling for any candidate who wished to up-grade, participate for the first time, or get a better opportunity/location of college. Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 Choice Filling Schedule

Candidates who have not yet secured a seat or wish to upgrade from earlier rounds can participate in Round 3 by completing the registration, choice filling, and locking process as per the given schedule. It is essential to adhere to the deadlines, as no extensions will be provided for any activity related to the counselling process.

Round 3 of Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025: Key Details and Guidelines

Round 3 of Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2025 is an important stage for those candidates hoping to join MBBS and BDS courses in Government and Private Medical/Dental Colleges of the state of Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DME), Tamil Nadu will administer the online counselling to give eligible candidates one of the last opportunities to obtain a medical seat using the online counselling platform located at https://tnmedicalselection.org.

Registration and Eligibility Requirement for Round 3

  • Candidates whose name appears on the list to participate in Round 3 on the Online Counselling Portal are required to pay a Registration Fee of Rs.500 (non- refundable fee) using the official online payment portal. 
  • Candidates who have previously paid this fee in the prior rounds (Round 1 or Round 2), but were not allotted any seat, will not need to pay this again.

Eligibility for Round 3 

  • Candidates who were registered during Round 1 or Round 2 who did not get any seat allotted, will be automatically eligible to participate in Round 3 and will not have to register again.
  • New registration is allowed only for those candidates whose names are already in the Merit List but did not register in Round 1 or Round 2. These candidates will have to pay the full Registration Fee.
  • Candidates who have joined seats up to Round 3 under either All India Quota (AIQ) or State Quota are not eligible to participate in any subsequent counselling rounds for either quota in the academic year 2025–26, as per the DGHS Information Bulletin.
  • Candidates upgraded from Round 1 to Round 2 must get relieved from their previous seat before joining the Round 3 seat.
  • Once a candidate joins the Round 3 seat, they cannot upgrade or resign from this seat.
  • Candidates who fail to join the Round 3 allotted seat will forfeit their Registration Fee, Security Deposit, and Tuition Fee, and they will not be eligible for any further rounds.

Choice Filling Process for Round 3

  • Candidates must visit the official website https://tnmedicalselection.org.
  • After successful registration and payment (if applicable), candidates can fill their preferred choices of colleges and courses online.
  • It is strongly recommended that candidates review the seat matrix beforehand and prepare a tentative list of preferences before filling choices.
  • Carefully read the counselling scheme and rules before submitting choices.

Number of Choices

  • There is no restriction on the number of colleges or courses (MBBS/BDS) a candidate can select during the choice-filling process.
  • Candidates can list as many choices as they wish, in the order of preference.
  • The portal will automatically display available options based on the candidate’s eligibility and quota type — such as Government, Management, NRI, or Minority Quota.

Example:

  • A Telugu Minority candidate who applied under the Management Quota will see Telugu Minority Management Quota (TM MQ) seats.
  • However, a General Management Quota candidate will not see those seats, and vice versa.

Locking of Choices

  • It is mandatory to fill and lock choices to be considered for seat allotment.
  • If a candidate does not lock their filled choices before the deadline, the system will automatically lock the last saved preferences as per the counselling schedule.

Important: If no choices are filled at all, the candidate will not be allotted any seat during Round 3.

Q. Who can take part in the Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3?

A. Candidates who were registered in Round 1 or Round 2 and were not allotted a seat are automatically able to take part in Round 3. Also, candidates who were on the merit list and did not register for earlier rounds may register as a fresh candidate. Candidates who in prior rounds of AIQ or State Quota have already joined a seat are not allowed to take part in any further rounds.

Q. Is there a registration fee for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 counselling?

A. Candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of ₹500 through the online payment portal. Candidates who paid this fee for the earlier rounds and were not allotted a seat do not need to pay again.

Q. How do I fill my choices for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 counselling?

A. Candidates will need to log in to the official website https://tnmedicalselection.org using the login credentials they receive. After registration, candidates will be able to fill in and rank the list of colleges and courses they wish to attend in order of their preference. Candidates should check the seat matrix and plan their preferences prior to filling in the online form.

Q. Is there any restriction on the number of choices I can fill?

A. There is no limit on the number of colleges or courses you can choose. You can fill as many preferences as you wish, but ensure that choices are arranged in the order of your preference, as allotment will be done based on NEET rank and preference order.

Q. Can I change my preferences after I submit my preferences?

A. Candidates can change or reorder their preferences at any point before locking. However; once the preferences have been locked or after the period has elapsed there cannot be any changes.  

Q. What happens if I do not lock my preferences before the deadline?

A. If a candidate does not lock his/her preferences manually then the system will lock the last preferences saved when the choice filling period is over. If a candidate does not fill any preferences then no seat will be allotted in Round 3. 

Q. Are candidates who have joined are eligible for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 counselling?

A. Candidates who have joined up to Round 3, whether it is for either the All India Quota (AIQ) or State Quota, would not be eligible for any further rounds as stipulated by DGHS. 

Q. What if I am upgraded to Round 3 from Round 1 or Round 2 in Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025?

A. If a candidate is upgraded to Round 3 then the candidate must be relived from his/her allotment (either in Round 1 or Round 2) and join the new college allotted in Round 3. If the candidate does not do this than the registration fee, security deposit, and tuition fee will be lost.

Q. Can I resign or upgrade after joining a Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 seat?

A. Once a candidate joins the Round 3 allotted seat, they cannot resign or upgrade to any other seat in subsequent rounds. The Round 3 seat is considered final.
