Directorate of Medical Education, Government of West Bengal has released the tentative schedule for Round 1 of West Bengal NEET UG 2026 Counselling for admission to MBBS and BDS courses under the State Quota, Private Management Quota and NRI Quota seats.
The schedule was issued on August 11, 2026, and includes important dates for online registration, fee payment, document verification, choice filling and locking, seat allotment, reporting and admission. Candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and wish to participate in West Bengal state counselling should complete each step within the prescribed timeline.

Registration and Fee Payment
The online registration process for Round 1 will begin on August 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Candidates can register until August 16, 2026, at 6:00 PM, as per server time. The online fee payment facility will remain available during the same period.
Candidates should complete the registration and fee payment within the notified timeline to proceed further in the counselling process.
Document Verification
After successful registration and fee payment, candidates will be required to undergo verification at their designated college and time slot as provided in the software. The verification is scheduled on August 14, 17 and 18, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
The notification states that this verification schedule is not applicable to NRI candidates. Candidates should carry the required original documents for verification as instructed by the counselling authority.
Choice Filling and Seat Allotment
The list of successfully verified candidates along with the Round 1 seat matrix will be published on August 19, 2026, after 12:00 Noon. Verified candidates can then participate in online choice filling and choice locking.
The choice-filling window will open at 4:00 PM on August 19 and remain available until 4:00 PM on August 21, 2026.
The West Bengal NEET UG 2026 Round 1 seat allotment result will be published on August 25, 2026, after 4:00 PM.
Reporting and Admission
Candidates allotted seats in Round 1 will have to report to their allotted institute for admission between August 26 and August 28, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
For private medical colleges, the notification states that the admission process will be conducted in the different government medical colleges in Kolkata as per the related notice published on the website. For private dental colleges, reporting will be conducted at Dr. R. Ahmed Dental College with the required original documents.
Candidates will be admitted at the allotted college after successful re-verification of their documents.
Online Seat Surrender
Candidates who wish to surrender their allotted seats can use the online seat surrender facility at the allotted college level. The notification schedules this process for September 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Candidates are required to complete the process with all original documents.
