Types of Puducherry NEET Counselling 2026

Puducherry's counselling splits across a few different tracks depending on the college and quota:

  • Government Quota (GQ): Seats reserved for residents of the U.T. of Puducherry in both government institutions (IGMCRI) and private colleges counselled by CENTAC.
  • Management Quota (MQ) / Self-Supporting Quota (SS): Seats in private colleges filled largely on all-India merit; Puducherry is an "Open State," so candidates from any part of India can apply for these seats.
  • Minority Management Quota (MQC/MQT): Reserved specifically for Puducherry-resident candidates belonging to the Christian religious minority (at PIMS) or the Telugu linguistic minority (at SVMCH&RI and SVDC).
  • NRI Quota: Seats for NRI, NRI-sponsored, OCI, OCI-sponsored, and Foreign National candidates at both government and private institutions.
  • All India Quota (AIQ – 15%): Seats surrendered by government colleges and filled centrally by MCC/DGHS.
  • JIPMER Counselling: JIPMER (an Institute of National Importance) runs 100% through MCC, though it internally reserves a share of seats for Puducherry UT-domicile candidates.
  • Deemed University Counselling: Puducherry's four deemed universities such as Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute, Aarupadai Veedu Medical College, Vinayaka Missions Medical College (Karaikal), and Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences, plus the dental college Indira Gandhi Institute of Dental Sciences fill 100% of their seats through MCC's Deemed University Counselling, not CENTAC.
  • Regional Quota: A compartmentalised reservation specifically for residents of Karaikal (18%), Mahe (4%), and Yanam (3%) regions, within Government Quota seats.

  • Create a password (maximum six characters) and log in using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number each time.
  • Fill in Personal Details, Academic Information, and upload the required documents.

  • Course Preferences must be submitted fresh for every round, preferences filled in a previous round become null and void the moment a new round begins.

  • Without any course preference, no seat will be allotted, even if you're otherwise eligible and registered.
  • Preferences are final once submitted for a round, CENTAC will not entertain requests to change them afterward.
  • New Course Groups cannot be added after the last date for submission of the application itself, so decide your broad course interests (MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BVSc) early.
  • Confirm the tuition fee and any additional college-specific fee (especially for private colleges) before locking your preferences, CENTAC takes no responsibility for private colleges' additional charges.

Q. What is Regional Quota in Puducherry NEET counselling?
