The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) offers reserved seats under Wards of Insured Persons (IPs) quota every year. These seats are only for children of insured employees who are part of the ESIC scheme. You just need to qualify NEET and get a special certificate from ESIC to apply. These ESIC seats are available across top government and ESIC colleges in India. Many students don’t even know about this option. That’s why we’re explaining it in easy language here. In this blog, we’ll tell you who can apply, how many seats are available, what is the fee, and how to get admission step-by-step. Also, the link to the official notice PDF is given at the end.

What is ESIC Quota?

The ESIC quota is a special benefit given by the Government of India to the children of insured workers. If your father or mother works in a job where ESI (Employee State Insurance) is deducted every month, then you are considered a “Ward of Insured Person (IP)”. These wards can apply for reserved seats in medical colleges under ESIC.

The best part is – you can get into a government or ESIC medical college at a low fee if you qualify NEET. These seats are not available to general students, so competition is a bit less compared to open category. This is a golden chance for those who come from a working-class background and want a medical seat without spending lakhs. But to claim this benefit, you must get a special certificate called “Ward of IP Certificate” from ESIC. We will tell you how to get that certificate below.

Total Seats Available Under ESIC Quota

For the academic year 2025–26, ESIC has announced a total of 466+ MBBS seats, 28 BDS seats, and 60 BSc Nursing seats under this special quota. These seats are available in both ESIC-owned medical colleges and a few government colleges that were earlier managed by ESIC.

The seat distribution is done on an All-India basis. That means you can get a seat in any state, even if you belong to another. Some well-known colleges included in this quota are located in Faridabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Patna, and Kolkata. Admission is purely based on NEET UG 2025 rank and the choice of college. This means – the better your rank and choice, the higher your chances. These are all regular government-approved colleges with proper hostel, facilities, and teaching. So you can trust their quality.

Fee Structure Under ESIC Quota

One of the best things about this quota is the very low fees. If you get selected, you only have to pay ₹24,000 per year for MBBS or BDS, and ₹10,000 per year for BSc Nursing. This is much cheaper than private colleges that ask for ₹10–20 lakh or more.

There is a small refundable security deposit and hostel/mess fees, but they are also affordable. The final year (half-year) has 50% tuition fees. You will also need to take a Demand Draft (DD) at the time of admission. There is no donation or capitation fee in ESIC colleges. This is a huge help for middle-class and low-income families. If your dream is to become a doctor or nurse, this quota makes it possible without putting pressure on your family’s money. Just make sure to complete all steps on time.

How to Apply for ESIC Quota Seats?

To apply under this quota, first you need to get the ‘Ward of IP Certificate’ from the ESIC website. This can be done online between 1st May to 18th May 2025. You will need your NEET 2025 admit card, parent’s ESI card, photos, and ID proof. Once your certificate is approved, you will get it in PDF form.

After that, visit mcc.nic.in and register for counselling under “ESIC Wards Quota.” You will get the chance to fill your preferred colleges and lock your choices. Seat allotment will be done based on your NEET rank and your preferences. If you get selected, you have to go to the college with original documents for admission. That’s it – no agent, no donation, and full transparency.

Who is Eligible for This Quota?

Only children of ESIC-insured persons can apply. The parent must be an “Insured Person” as on 30 September 2024, meaning their ESI account should be active till that date. Boys must be under 21 years of age (as of 7 March 2025), while girls don’t have this age limit if unmarried.

You must also appear in NEET 2025 and qualify as per NTA rules. If your documents are proper and you complete all steps before the deadline, you are eligible. Just remember – if your parent is not part of ESIC or left the job before the cut-off date, you cannot apply. Also, the certificate will be verified before seat allotment, so do not make any mistake while applying.
