Jammu And Kashmir NEET Counselling 2026 will be conducted by Jammu & Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (JKBOPEE) on its portal jkbopee.gov.in. Those who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and are domicile of Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh wishing to pursue an MBBS, BDS or another medical course should participate in J&K NEET Counselling

This year, however, NEET Counselling dates have seen unusual postponement and eventfulness. The original NEET UG 2026 exam, scheduled for 3rd May 2026, was cancelled by NTA following a paper leak controversy, and a fresh Re-NEET UG 2026 exam was conducted on 21st June 2026. Results were finally declared on 16th July 2026, roughly two months later than a year. 

JKBOPEE’s own e-Counselling Instructions and Guidelines, confirm that Round 1 seat allotment, upgradation rounds, and the Mop-Up round all follow only after the NEET result and Provisional Merit List (PML) are finalised, so with the result now out, candidates should expect JKBOPEE’s official schedule to be notified on jkbopee.gov.in any day now.

MBBS/BDS admission in J&K's government colleges is split between the All India Quota (AIQ), where a share of government college seats is pooled into central counselling run by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), open to candidates from anywhere in India and the State Quota, counselled entirely by JKBOPEE for domiciles of J&K and Ladakh.

Types of Jammu & Kashmir NEET Counselling 2026

J&K's admission process for NEET-qualified candidates runs across a few different tracks:

• State Quota Counselling: The bulk of seats across government medical and dental colleges in J&K, counselled entirely online by JKBOPEE for candidates who are domiciles of the UT of J&K or Ladakh (for Ladakh candidates, an ST certificate is treated as domicile proof).
• All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling: A share of seats in J&K's government medical/dental colleges is pooled into the central AIQ counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), open to NEET-qualified candidates nationwide. This arrangement has evolved since the reorganisation of the erstwhile state, so confirm the exact current-year AIQ percentage on the MCC/JKBOPEE notification before you plan around it.
• AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu Seats: Being a central institute, these seats are filled 100% through MCC's central counselling, not through JKBOPEE.
• Management & NRI Quota (Private College): At Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences (ASCOMS), Jammu, J&K's main private medical college, a portion of seats is filled under Management and NRI quota, separate from the State Quota seats it also offers.
• P&B (Poor & Backward) Category: A category specific to ASCOMS, where candidates are treated as open merit candidates for eligibility purposes but considered under a separate admission channel.

If you're eligible for both AIQ and State Quota, track both timelines closely, the two run on separate websites (mcc.nic.in for AIQ, jkbopee.gov.in for State Quota) with independent schedules.

Jammu & Kashmir NEET Counselling Eligibility Criteria

Here's what you need to qualify for a seat through JKBOPEE's counselling.

Jammu & Kashmir NEET Counselling Process Step by Step

These are the step-by-step procedures that have to be followed for the counselling process:

1.  Register and Sign Up: Tap on jkbopee.gov.in to create an account. The NEET UG 2026 Application Number, Roll Number, Score, and Rank will be required for the registration. After registration, do not forget to verify the account using the OTP sent to your email.

2.  Pay the Fee: Pay the fee of ₹1,500 towards counselling fees. The payment is non-refundable. You are allowed to fill out the preference form only after the successful payment of the fee.

3.  Provisional Merit List (PML): JKBOPEE will display the Provisional Merit List of all registered NEET qualified applicants who filled the counselling forms.

4. Filling of Preference Form: Candidates may fill their preferred choice of disciplines/institutions in the preference form serially. At least one choice must be filled. The candidates can keep on editing or modifying the choice until they finalize and save their preference form by locking choices.

5. Locking of Choice: By clicking on lock choice and saving on preview page, choices are locked. These choices can not be edited or modified for the subsequent rounds.

6. Round 1: Declaration of Provisional Selection List(PSS): Based on merit cum preference and reservation policy, the authority will declare Round 1 PSS.

7. Joining/reporting to the allotted institution: Candidates allotted seats in Round 1 counselling are required to join the respective institutions within due time by submitting original documents and other requisite undertaking.

8. Resignation for seeking upgradation: The candidates who want to resign for upgradation may do so on or before the last date for Round 2 counselling for the next round. It means that if a candidate does not resign, then he/she will not be eligible to participate in Round 2 counselling.

9. For Round 2, 3 & subsequent rounds: Candidates can fill their preference form for Round 2 & subsequent rounds, however, Round 1 preference form is not considered for the next rounds. Preference form should be filled for seats that come vacant due to resignation upgradation, non-joining of the reporting of the seat allotted in Round 1 counselling. There will also be a mop-up round conducted for admission to vacant seats.

10. Mop Up Round for Upgradation: In case seats remain vacant after the conduct of Round 3 counselling, the authority conducts a Mop Up round to fill these vacant seats. It is an upgradation round and candidates can apply for upgradation as described in the official notice.

11. Conversion of category seats: Any reserved category seat which remains vacant after Round 1, 2, and 3 counselling shall be converted into general category seats during the Mop Up round.

12. Stray/ Special Round: The authority may conduct a Stray/ Special Round(s). However, it will be conducted only for those candidates who do not hold any seat during the Mop Up round. It implies that no upgradation will be allowed during the Stray/ Special Round.

Jammu & Kashmir NEET Counselling Registration Process

• Visit jkbopee.gov.in and click "Sign Up" to register with your NEET UG 2026 Application Number, Roll Number, Score and Rank.
• On successful submission, your username (same as your CET Roll No.) is generated, and a confirmation email is sent to your registered address.
• Activate your account using the activation link and OTP in that email, then set a new password. If you don't receive the link, use "Get Activation Link" to request a fresh one.
• Log in using your NEET UG 2026 Application Number as username and your chosen password.
• Pay the ₹1,500 non-refundable counselling fee online through the payment gateway, you can choose any available payment option and download the receipt afterward.
• Only after fee payment can you proceed to fill your preference form.
• Important: JKBOPEE explicitly advises candidates to fill the form themselves and not through any agent or third party, the online system is designed precisely so you don't need to visit the BOPEE office in person.

Jammu & Kashmir NEET Counselling Choice Filling

• After logging in, click the "Subject" link to start filling preferences.
• Select college-wise disciplines you want to apply for and click "Select", chosen disciplines appear in the "disciplines available" box.
• Move your preferred disciplines into the "disciplines assigned" box using the ">>" button, in the exact order you want them considered, most preferred first.
• Use the "<<" button to remove any preference you no longer want.
• Click "Save As Draft" at any point, your draft stays visible every time you log back in until final submission.
• Use "Preview" to check and print your selected preferences before locking anything.
• You can add or delete preferences any number of times before the last date, right up until you lock your choices.
• Once you click "Lock Choices", you'll see a final preview; clicking "Lock Choices" again locks it permanently no modification is possible after this, for any reason.
• Only applications with choices locked and fees paid within the prescribed time are considered for seat allotment; everything else is rejected outright.
• Take a printout of your locked Preference Form ("Print Application Form") and keep it for your records and double-check the payment status reflects correctly on the printed form.

Jammu & Kashmir NEET Counselling 2026 Documents Required

J&K's MBBS/BDS closing ranks move every year depending on the size and difficulty of that year's NEET, and competition for GMC Srinagar and GMC Jammu in particular has historically been intense relative to the small number of state-quota seats on offer in some recent years, general-category closing ranks at these two colleges have stayed in the low hundreds nationally.
