Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Assam has released the schedule for the 1st Round of Online Counselling for admission to 1st year MBBS/BDS courses in government medical and dental colleges of Assam for the 2026 session. The counselling will be conducted for candidates who have qualified NEET UG 2026 and are eligible for admission under the state quota.
The online counselling process will be conducted through the official DME Assam website. Candidates belonging to different eligible categories, including OBC/MOBC (NCL), Moran/Motok, Tai Ahom, Chutia, Koch Rajbongshi, Tea-Ex Tea Garden and Ex-Tea Garden communities, Bodo community, SC/ST, PwD, and other specified categories, can participate as per the eligibility conditions mentioned in the notice.

Assam NEET UG 2026 Registration
Online registration for the first round will commence on August 13, 2026. Candidates will be able to register until August 15, 2026, up to 11:55 PM. Candidates must complete the registration within the specified deadline to participate in the subsequent choice filling and seat allotment process.
Choice Filling and Locking
After registration, candidates will have to fill their preferred colleges and courses online. The choice filling window will remain open from August 16 to 18, 2026, up to 6:00 PM.
Candidates must also lock their choices on August 18, 2026, between 6:00 PM and 11:55 PM. The choices submitted by candidates will be used for processing the seat allotment.
Seat Allotment and Result
The seat allotment process for Round 1 will be conducted from August 19 to 21, 2026. The Round 1 counselling result is scheduled to be published on August 22, 2026.
Candidates are advised to carefully check the allotment result and follow the further admission and reporting instructions issued by the Directorate.
Important Instructions for Candidates
Candidates are advised to keep all required documents and annexures ready before completing the counselling process. The notice states that no offline counselling will be conducted, and candidates must complete the process online.
Candidates belonging to the OBC/MOBC creamy layer are required to apply under the General category.
The DME Assam has advised candidates to regularly visit the official website for further updates and notifications related to the counselling process.
