Punjab NEET Counselling 2026 is conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS), Faridkot, the centralised counselling authority notified by the Government of Punjab, through its official website www.bfuhs.ac.in.
This counselling fills MBBS and BDS seats under Government Quota, Management Quota, NRI Quota, and Minority Quota in Government and Private Medical/Dental Institutes, including institutes under Private Universities and Minority Institutions, purely on the basis of the merit secured in NEET UG 2026 conducted by NTA.
This year NEET exam was canceled and Re-NEET Exam was held and result has been declared on 16th July 2026. Out of the total seats in Government Institutes, 15% (All India Quota) are filled by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS, while the remaining 85% are filled by the Admission Committee constituted by the Government of Punjab.

Types of Punjab NEET Counselling 2026
Punjab NEET Counselling 2026 covers the following categories of seats.
- Government Quota / State Quota: Covers seats in Government Medical/Dental Institutes and 50% of seats in Private Medical/Dental Institutes, including those under Private Universities, open to candidates meeting Punjab's state quota eligibility.
- Management/Minority Quota: Covers the remaining 50% of seats in Private Medical/Dental Institutes, including a 15% NRI Quota carved out within this share.
- NRI Quota: 15% of seats in all Private Institutes, Guru Gobind Singh Medical College Faridkot, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali, along with a fixed number of seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges at Patiala and Amritsar, reserved for NRI/OCI/PIO candidates.
- Minority Quota: Seats reserved in Minority Institutions, such as Christian Medical College (CMC) and Christian Dental College (CDC), Ludhiana, for candidates belonging to the minority community, governed by their own Supreme Court-approved admission policy.
- All India Quota (Not part of BFUHS counselling): 15% of seats in Government Institutes are filled separately through NEET UG merit by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS.

Eligibility for Punjab Counselling NEET UG 2026 depends on the quota a candidate is applying under.

A reserved category candidate can compete for General/Unreserved seats as per merit on the day of counselling, and such a selection is not counted as an admission against the reserved category.
Punjab NEET Counselling Process Step by Step
Punjab NEET Counselling 2026 process is centralised through BFUHS and follows these broad steps.
- Declaration of the NEET UG 2026 result, after which candidates apply on the specific proforma for all seats except All India Quota seats.
- Publication of the combined merit list and category-wise merit lists on the BFUHS website at least 7 days before counselling.
- Centralised counselling for NRI Quota seats, held before counselling for other categories.
- Online registration, document verification, and choice filling for Government Quota, Management Quota, and Minority Quota seats.
- Seat allotment on the basis of inter-se NEET UG 2026 merit by the Admission Committee constituted by the Government of Punjab.
- Reporting to the allotted institute, document verification, and fee deposit within the notified schedule.
- Subsequent rounds of counselling, followed by counselling for any leftover seats by the same Admission Committee, with no fresh applications called by individual institutions.
- Execution of the Service Bond (for Government Medical College candidates) and any other institute-level formalities before final admission.
Punjab NEET Counselling Registration Process
Registration for Punjab NEET UG Counselling 2026 is done on the specific proforma notified by BFUHS after the NEET UG 2026 result is declared. A few points worth keeping in mind:
- Admission is made jointly for the state Medical Colleges (GMC Patiala, GMC Amritsar, and GGSMC Faridkot) along with the other Government and Private Medical/Dental Institutes, through a single centralised counselling by BFUHS.
- Fee and other charges for submission of the application and counselling are notified separately by BFUHS as per Government approval, so candidates should check the latest fee notification before applying.
- Candidates must submit a duly sworn affidavit/declaration, along with their parent/guardian, confirming that they have sought State Quota eligibility in Punjab only and have not claimed similar eligibility in any other state or union territory for the same academic session.
- Providing false information, or claiming State Quota benefit in more than one state, makes the candidature/admission liable for cancellation, along with other legal action.
- For students admitted through online counselling, fee is deposited as prescribed by BFUHS after verification of documents at the college level; for students admitted through physical counselling, fee is deposited only through a Bank Demand Draft.
- Candidates need to upload their 10+1 and 10+2 certificates on the BFUHS portal as part of the registration process.
Punjab NEET Counselling Choice Filling
Choice filling for Punjab NEET Counselling 2026 decides which institute and course a candidate is finally allotted, based on the merit list prepared by BFUHS.
- Candidates fill their choices of course and institute in order of preference during the counselling window notified for each round.
- A reserved category candidate who is selected for a General/Unreserved seat based on merit is not counted against the reservation roster, keeping that reserved seat available for other candidates.
- Since counselling for leftover seats is conducted by the same Admission Committee using the same NEET merit, candidates do not need to submit fresh applications separately to individual institutions for such seats.
- NRI Quota seats are counselled before the counselling for other categories, so NRI candidates need to plan their choice filling within that earlier window.
- Seats remaining vacant under any reserved or minority category are transferred to the General Category as per the instructions issued by MCC/BFUHS from time to time.

Candidates claiming Physically Challenged/PwD reservation must bring a valid disability certificate from an MCC-designated centre on the day of counselling itself; no separate medical board is constituted for this purpose, and no other certificate is accepted.

Punjab NEET Counselling Seat Allotment Process
Seat allotment for Punjab NEET Counselling 2026 is done strictly on the basis of inter-se NEET UG 2026 merit by the Admission Committee constituted by the Government of Punjab.
- Admission is made to only those institutes approved by all concerned authorities on or before the first counselling; institutes awaiting affiliation or approval are not considered for that counselling.
- No admission adjustment is made after the date notified by the National Medical Commission for the corresponding year, regardless of any vacancy that may exist or arise later.
- If the All India Quota seats remain unfilled and are surrendered by DGHS/MCC to the Punjab Government, they are filled as per NEET merit and the existing reservation rules of the state.
- NRI Quota seats are earmarked first for NRI/children of NRI who originally belong to Punjab (Category I), and then for those who originally belong to another Indian state (Category II); any seat remaining vacant after the 2nd centralised NRI counselling goes to the General category of the applicable quota.
- OCI/PIO candidates are considered only for the 15% NRI Quota seats, not for the State Quota.
- A candidate already admitted to an MBBS/BDS course in any institution in India in a previous session can participate afresh only after obtaining a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Relieving Certificate, and remains liable for the entire course fee and bond amount if they leave the course before completing two years.
