Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has officially commenced the refund process for the security deposits submitted by candidates during the NEET 2024 counseling sessions. This development brings relief to numerous aspirants awaiting the return of their funds.
Understanding the Security Deposit Refund Process
The security deposit is a fixed requirement payment by candidates at the stage of counseling to certify the acceptance and to reserve a seat in medical or dental colleges. According to MCC, a stepwise procedure for the prompt and complete refund of such deposits has been started.
Eligibility for Refund
Candidates who did not secure a seat in any of the counseling rounds are eligible for a full refund of their security deposit. Moreover, students who have been allocated a seat but did not join the college, are also entitled to a refund, subject to the requirements of the MCC.
Refund Timeline
The MCC has announced that the process of refund would be set in motion within 15 working days from the end of all counselling sessions. The whole process is supposed to take 30 days for the completion.Candidates are advised to monitor their registered bank accounts during this period.
Important Considerations
Bank Account Details: The refund will be credited to the same account from which the initial payment was made. Applicants should make sure that this account does not get inactive before the refund is processed. If the account has been closed or is inactive, it may lead to delays in the refund process.
Multiple Payments: In cases where candidates have made multiple payments for the same roll number, the excess amount will be refunded after deducting administrative charges. Candidates may contact the Financial Custodian after 10 days following the closing of the registration window for these purposes.
