Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 2 Process

The second round of Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 is intended to provide candidates with a second opportunity to obtain a seat or to improve upon their previous allotment. It is essential that candidates are familiar with the regulations, timelines, and implications of Round 2, as allotments under Round 2 will have conditions. A complete description of the process follows:

1. Upgradation and Resignation

  • If an applicant chooses to upgrade and be assigned a seat during Round 2, they will lose their Round 1 seat assigned and need to join their Round 2 seat.
  • After the applicant joins the upgrade, they will have no rights to the Round 1 seat under any circumstance.

2. Choice Filling and Editing

  • Round 2 choice filling will follow the registration process.
  • Eligible candidates include:
  1. Those seeking upgradation from Round 1.
  2. Un-allotted candidates from Round 1.
  3. Not-joined candidates who did not take admission after Round 1 allotment.
  • Candidates can edit their choices until they lock them. Once locked, choices cannot be changed.
  • If a candidate fails to lock their choices before the deadline, their choices will be automatically locked by the system.

3. Virtual Vacancies

  • Seats allotted in Round 1 will be displayed as virtual vacancies during Round 2.
  • Candidates can fill choices for these seats.
  • The seat will be converted into a real vacancy only if the Round 1 allotted candidate vacates or upgrades in Round 2.

4. Re-allotment Rules

  • If the candidate is re-allotted in Round 2, the previously allotted Round 1 seat will be forfeited and allotted to other candidates based on their merits lower than the candidate being allotted a Round 2 seat.
  • The candidates who were upgraded in Round 2 will not hold claim for any of the previously allotted Round 1 seat, even if they do not join the Round 2 seat.

5. Resignation and Discontinuation

  • Applicants can resign from the course prior to the announced resignation date and be eligible for the next round.
  • Applicants who resign from the course after the resign date may continue to Round 3 but will no longer be eligible for any deposit or registration fees that they had paid.

6. Retention and Free Exit

  • Candidates will be retained if they are allotted the same seat in Round 2, which they were allotted in Round 1, they will be considered retained and abide to Round 2 rules.
  • Candidates who were freshly allotted a seat in Round 2, must report to their institute, however, if they do not report their institute, they can also go to subsequent rounds under free exit without any forfeitures.

7. Important Instructions

  • Candidates should carefully read the prospectus and analyse their choices before locking.
  • It is strongly recommended to choose only preferred colleges to avoid unwanted allotments.
  • The vacancy position will be available on the official website before choice filling.
  • The selection committee will not be responsible for connectivity or procedural errors, so candidates are advised to complete all steps well before the deadline.
