Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 Schedule

Director of Medical Education & Research (DMER), Chennai, has released the provisional schedule for Round 3 of the NEET UG Counselling 2025 for MBBS and BDS admissions for Tamil Nadu. Round 3 of counseling is applicable for the government medical and dental colleges, the ESIC Medical College (K.K. Nagar, Chennai), management quota seats in self-financing medical colleges (including Christian Medical College, Vellore), private universities, and IRT wards.

In Round 3, eligible candidates can opt for not only re-allotment but also fresh allotment. The registration and payment of fees process will commence at 10:00 AM on October 6, 2025, and will close at 5:00 PM on October 9, 2025. Eligible candidates are requested to register in the provided time period and make the payment in order to become a candidate in Round 3 of the seat allotment process.

All candidates participating in Round 3 are asked to verify their NEET rank and score eligibility as per range (government quota GQ and management quota MQ). This round is the last opportunity for clients to obtain admission into their colleges of choice for course admissions for the 2025–26 academic session.

This round is important for candidates who want to upgrade, re-allot, or secure admission in colleges based on their NEET ranks and preferences. Candidates must carefully follow the schedule for registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and reporting to colleges. Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025 Round 3 – General Instructions

Participants of Round 3 of Tamil Nadu NEET UG Counselling 2025 must carefully heed these general instructions for the registration, choice filling and the allotment of seats to avoid any difficulty. 

Registration Status

  • Candidates who registered for Round 1 or Round 2 and were not allotted a seat are not obliged to register again.
  • Candidates who were allotted, but did not join, a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 are also not obliged to register again.  

Upgradation for Joined Candidates

  • Candidates who have already joined a seat in Round 1 or Round 2 and wish to opt for upgradation do not need to pay the registration fee again.
  • They must login during the registration window to confirm participation so their seats can be counted as virtual vacancies.

Fresh Registration

  • Candidates who have not registered in Round 1 or Round 2 can register afresh in Round 3 by paying the full fees.
  • Candidates must already have applied to the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee and be listed in the merit list.

Seat Retention

Candidates who want to retain their current seat do not need to participate in Round 3.

MCC Allotted Candidates

  • Candidates whose names appear in the MCC allotment list after Round 3 are not eligible for State Quota Round 3 counselling.

Seat Relinquishment

  • If a candidate is upgraded in Round 3, the previous seat from Round 1 or Round 2 will be relinquished automatically, and they have no rights over the previous seat.

Choice Filling

  • Choice filling will follow registration. Candidates wishing for upgradation, unallotted candidates, and non-joined candidates must fill their choices.
  • Candidates can edit choices multiple times before locking. Once locked, choices cannot be changed.
  • It is advisable to carefully select preferred colleges to avoid undesirable allotments.

Seat Allotment Order

  • If a candidate is re-allotted a seat in Round 3, then their previous allotment from Round 1 or Round 2 will be allotted to a candidate lower on the seat allotment order.  
  • Candidates who are given an allotted seat, and join, in Round 3 must take the seat and shall not be allowed to upgrade or resign from that seat.

Non-Joining / Non-Downloading of Allotment Order

Candidates who download the allotment order but do not join will forfeit registration fee, security deposit, and tuition fee and cannot participate in subsequent rounds.

Candidates who do not download the allotment order but are allotted a seat will also forfeit fees and be ineligible for subsequent rounds.

Retained Seats

  • Candidates who participated in Round 3 but retained the same seat are considered as Retained. All rules of Round 3, including forfeiture of security deposit and tuition fees, apply to them.

Vacancies & Reservation

Remaining unfilled seats will follow reservation rules as per the prospectus:

  • SC candidates may fill unfilled SCA seats.
  • SC candidates may fill unfilled ST seats if ST candidates are insufficient.
  • BC candidates may fill unfilled BCM seats.
  • Arunthathiyars may compete with SC (other than Arunthathiyars) if excess qualified candidates exist.

Virtual Vacancies

  • Seats of candidates opting for upgradation are shown as virtual vacancies. These become real vacancies only if the original seat-holder upgrades or vacates the seat.

Important Guidelines

  • Candidates should read the Prospectus thoroughly before choice filling.
  • Connectivity or procedural errors are not the responsibility of the Selection Committee.
  • All admissions are done online based on rank and reservation rules.
  • Choices will be auto-locked if not locked manually by the last date (14.10.2025, 5:00 PM).

A. Those candidates who did not register in Round 1 or Round 2 must register for Round 3. Also, a candidate who joined or was allotted a seat in previous counselling rounds and would like to upgrade will also need to log in to confirm participation.

A. Candidates can modify their preferences as many times as they want before locking them. No changes are allowed after all the choices have been locked. 

Q. What will happen to virtual vacancies during Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025?

A. The seats of candidates choosing to upgrade in Round 3 will be indicated as virtual vacancies. These will only become real vacancies if the candidate originally holding that seat resigns or upgrades in  Round 3.

Q. What will happen if a candidate fails to join the allotted seat during Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2025?

A. When  candidate downloads the allotment order and fails to join the allotted seat, the candidate shall be forfeited the registration fee, security deposit, and tuition fee. In addition, the candidate shall be barred from further rounds of counselling. 

Q. Can a candidate upgrade or resign after joining the seat?

A. After a candidate joins a seat, they cannot upgrade or resign the seat during Round 3.
