What is NEET UG Counselling 2025?
NEET UG Counselling 2025 is a centralized process by which candidates who are eligible will be allocated seats to MBBS, BDS, and other allied medical courses based on the NEET UG 2025 rank, category, and choice preference, by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The NTA conducts the NEET UG exam, however, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is responsible for the counselling of all India quota seats.
This year, counseling will be conducted for more than 1,18,000 MBBS seats and over 27,000 BDS seats to be filled by candidates at 780 medical colleges and 279 dental colleges across the country. Counseling will be in four rounds:
- Round 1
- Round 2
- Round 3 (Mop-Up Round)
- Final Stray Vacancy Round
Each of the above rounds has a separate registration schedule, choice-filling schedule, seat allocation processing schedule, and reporting schedule. Candidates need to be aware of the above dates so that they don’t miss their deadlines.

Important Points About NEET UG Counselling 2025
Counselling is held separately for AIQ and State Quota seats.
- MCC will be handling the AIQ, Central Universities, AIIMS, JIPMER, ESIC and Deemed Universities.
- State counselling authorities will run the counselling process for the 85% state quota seats and 100% of the private college seats.
- As a candidate, you will have to do fresh registration for each round (except when applicable).
- Candidates that do not register in Round 1 can register in Round 2 or the Mop-Up Round.
- For the Final Stray Vacancy Round fresh registration is a requirement.
- You can upgrade from Round 1 to Round 2 and from Round 2 to the Mop-Up Round, however, once you have been allotted a seat through the Mop-Up Round, you cannot resign or upgrade to the next round.
- Candidates will have to report physically at the institute allocated to them, within the given timeline, or risk losing their seat.
- It is important to note that candidates allotted seats in the Final Stray Vacancy Round must join the allocated college. If you do not join you will be debarred from NEET UG for the next session and loose your security deposit.
